False Alarm Prevention:
A
false alarm is an alarm resulting in the dispatch of the Police or Fire Department when there is no evidence of:
*
An unauthorized entry or the commission of an unlawful act in relation to the property protected by the alarm system.
*
Smoke damage or any other visible sign of fire.
* Any other emergency situation.
Common Causes of False Alarms:
*
Environmental conditions such as a storm that causes loose windows and doors with sensors to rattle.
* Wandering pets
that are not in a "safe" zone and may activate motion sensors. Pet friendly motion detectors are available for most types
of pets.
* Drafts that move objects such as curtains or plants in the home within the motion sensor's detection area.
* False Alarm Reduction Tips:
* Lock all doors and windows that are protected when the system is armed to ensure
they don't move due to heavy winds. * Read your alarm system's manual.
* Ensure that you understand alarm bylaws
in your area so you know what occurs during a false alarm.
* Educate yourself and all others who have access to your
system including key holders, babysitters and housecleaners on how to cancel accidental alarms, using their verbal pass codes,
keypad user codes and St Harrison's telephone numbers.
REMEMBER :
Keep balloons, fans, curtains and plants
away from drafts that may activate motion sensors.

Ongoing Prevention

on an ongoing basis so that we are able to reach you and your family immediately to ensure that you are safe in the event
of an alarm.

immediately by entering your keypad user code. Notify us if: You have a lifestyle change such as a new baby, a new
pet, obtain domestic help, going on a holiday, change phone systems or phone numbers, start using an internet based telephone,
someone becomes chronically ill or disabled or plan to sell your house. You decide to renovate such as: remodeling, installing
ceiling fans and skylights etc.
Your security system is not working properly. Keep your key holder and emergency
contact list up to date. Private Guard Response Offers the Following Benefits: Private Guard responds quickly. In
an emergency, police are dispatched through the Private Guard as a high priority response. Having a professional guard
respond that will stay at the scene until police arrive enhances safety of everyone involved with the situation. Convenient
because the homeowner and key holders do not have to respond to a false alarm if they are away as the guard will respond for
them. If You Answer Yes to Any of the Following Questions, You Should Consider Private Guard Response:
Have you
ever had a false alarm?
Are you concerned with the safety of your key holders in an alarm situation?
Do you
travel often?
Can you attend an alarm at your location at a moment's notice?
What to Do When Your Alarm Sounds:
If
you know what caused the alarm and there is no emergency, simply enter your keypad access code to disarm your system. Contact
your Emergency Response Centre or call us at(1-203-338-0518,19) to notify that everything is all right. If you are unsure
what caused the alarm, do not disarm your system. Let our Emergency Response Centre respond as usual. If You Generate an
Alarm Accidentally Go to the keypad and enter your valid keypad access code to disarm the system. A Cancel signal will
be sent to the Emergency Response Centre, indicating that a user with a valid code is on site and no emergency or intrusion
exists. The Emergency Response Centre may still contact you. Advise the operator that the authorities are not required
and explain what caused the alarm.
Our Staff Response Unit will contact you to verify everything is OK.
